Rondo AG is further expanding its capacity in its Czech factory. A third printing press, the new Speedmaster XL 106, will enable the factory to produce up to a billion folding boxes and blanks a year. A new die-cutting machine and a new glueing line will be added beginning of next year. The expansion includes continuing investment in employee training. These measures will further strengthen Rondo’s leading market position in the areas of quality and on-time delivery.
Rondo AG, Switzerland is further expanding the capacity of its Czech factory in Ejpovice. The company, which specialises in the development and production of folding boxes for the pharmaceutical industry, will soon commission a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106, the third printing press in the continuing expansion of the factory.
Demand for the products of the Czech factory is growing continuously. Smaller lot sizes in pharmaceutical production and lower print runs mean that the number of job changes per printing press has been driven up, so the company has invested in more capacity – a major step, complementing sales network expansion in eastern and western Europe.
When the equipment was being selected, a high priority was placed on the shortest possible set-up times. The machine’s features include Auto Plate Pro: for parallel plate changing in parallel with other process steps; automatic offset blanket and printing cylinder washing units; Hycolor Multidrive for time-saving set-up; Prinect Inpress Control 2: inline colour measurement system to minimise paper waste and maximise time savings; and AutoPlate Coating Pro.
These investments have focused on sustainability and environmental aspects: a water-cooled infrastructure enables a lot of heat to be recovered. The machine also has a low-energy standby function and a CO2 climate protection certificate from the Frauenhofer Institute.
In the ultra-modern, cost-efficient factory, the highest priority is always given to on-time delivery and excellent product quality. This is facilitated by training and development for employees in Ejpovice. Technical personnel from all areas of the company are continuously qualified to guarantee Rondo's quality promise to its customers at all times.
Rondo is also guaranteeing essential support for its site in Switzerland if peak capacity is exceeded and to provide mutual back-up. In April 2018 Rondos’ Allschwil plant invested in one of the first Heidelberg Primefire digital presses, mainly for supply-on-demand projects with small print runs. This means that Rondo, in both the Czech Republic and Switzerland, is perfectly prepared to handle existing and future orders.
