Bea Technologies is a high-tech enterprise specialised in filter cartridges, equipment and systems. It is also a market leader in nanofiber filtration. Based in Pero, a suburb of Milan, the ISO 9001-certified company develops and produces high-performance, customer-specific filter solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical and healthcare.
The company was established as a dealer of filter components and instruments by Aldo Bea in 1962. In 1981, the company began the production of its own line of pleated filter elements. "Initially, we were focused on compressed air-gas systems," says president Roberto Bea, the son of the founder, who learned the filter business from scratch. "Later, equipment for oil and gas applications, and microfiltration systems were added to complete our range of filter solutions."
Nanotechnology for improved performance
The microfiltration division serves the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, food and fine-chemical industries. Critical microfiltration products are processed in a cleanroom environments, and in accordance with GMP guidelines to ensure high quality and cleanliness for biological applications. "Back in 1981, we were one of the first companies in Italy to install a cleanroom to produce filter elements," says Bea. Of course, the cleanroom has been continuously altered to meet changing requirements since then, with the last major expansion and modernisation being completed in 2010.
Bea Technologies has 110 employees and customers across the globe. "Our main export markets are Europe, Ukraine, North Africa, Indonesia, and the Far and Middle East," explains Bea. "We are constantly looking for new international opportunities. Bea Technologies is also continually developing filter solutions for existing and new applications. For the past three years, it's primary focus has been to develop products based on nanotechnology to further enhance filter performance and efficacy. "We offer specific nanofiber filter products for pharmaceutical, food and biotechnology applications," says Bea. "In Europe, we remain a market leader in filtration products for these sectors and are going to be a leading industry player worldwide, too."
The progressive Italian enterprise offers customised solutions for all applications and is constantly creating new ones, such as filter equipment for the next generation of pharmaceuticals. For the pharmaceutical industry, Bea is currently developing its VALEXPOTENT line of filter products for next-generation drugs based on HPAPIs, which are highly sensitive and toxic during production.
Put the customer first
Besides technological innovation, Bea Technologies offers excellent customer service, and the company is highly flexible in meeting individual customer requirements. "We can adapt many of our products to the customer's specific needs in order to provide the optimum solution," says Bea. In addition to further advances in its internationalisation process, Bea Technologies wants to strengthen its activities in the fast-evolving biotechnology sector. "This means an even greater focus on research and development, technological innovation, and on our branded 'ANIMAL-FREE' products," concludes Bea.
Bea Technologies' internal laboratory and technical support service selects the best materials and the most appropriate separation technologies to find solutions to filtration challenges, thus achieving optimum product quality and reducing operating costs.
If an engineer or a manager wants to optimise their current filtration processes in ways that were previously thought impossible, this service can help them to better understand the applicability of improved filtration to achieve quality objectives. If they are already using filtration in their manufacturing process, this service can demonstrate that filtration is not a stand-alone process, but rather the ability to intelligently apply quality design, knowledge and application experience to bring the best value to a process.
