Corning is one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science. For more than 160 years, Corning has applied its unparalleled expertise in speciality glass, ceramics and optical physics to develop products that have created new industries and transformed people’s lives. Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactors enable the continuous processing of chemicals with a smaller footprint than conventional batch reactors, and are specially designed for the seamless transition from lab feasibility to process development to industrial-scale production of chemicals for the pharmaceutical, fine and speciality chemical industries.

Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactors provide customers with a cost-effective solution, specialized engineering support, and extensive materials and process expertise. Corning reactors comprise highly engineered fluidic modules that integrate heat-transfer and mass-transfer into a single piece of equipment. Compared to conventional batch reactors, Corning reactors can increase the efficiency, scalability, yields and quality of chemical processing – and can reduce performance variability and cost.

Customized solutions to meet chemical processing challenges

Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactors can be integrated into existing chemical processing infrastructures using standard connections, helping customers migrate to Corning’s Advanced-Flow reactor technology with little or no downtime. They can also be designed upon request to fully comply with cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) and ATEX (the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres) regulations.

Corning offers a broad portfolio of Advanced-Flow reactors (LF, G1, G1 Photo, G3, G4) with robust speciality materials (glass and silicon carbide) to meet various challenges in chemical processing feasibility, optimization, and production of a large number of chemistries. Corning also provides a comprehensive set of auxiliary equipment to ensure high performance of the integrated systems. Corning’s global reactor technology centres, application labs, reactor engineering expertise and responsive services provide customers with easy and effective access to the benefits of Advanced-Flow technologies.

The future flows through Corning® Advanced-Flow™ reactors

Corning’s Advanced-Flow reactors are designed for manufacturing, not just testing and experimentation. Corning’s reactor technology can open up a new processing window, enabling chemical reactions at higher temperatures, pressures and concentrations.

For certain chemical processes, Corning Advanced-Flow reactors can perform two or more consecutive reaction steps without work-up. The reactors can also require less energy, space and raw materials per volume of final product, which can reduce the cost of production while increasing the yields, quality and safety of chemical reactions.
