Saudia Cargo offers special containers designed for safeguarding temperature and protecting against external weather. The company has achieved outstanding successes in medicines and medical supplies cargo services since its launch three years ago.

Three years have passed since Saudia Cargo launched the medicine and medical supplies cargo service through its Fly Pharma product, using special containers designed to maintain a set internal temperature and protect against external weather. The product – which has been established within the company’s efforts for the development of services and products – has achieved outstanding success as a result of Saudia Cargo’s experience in the field, taking advantage of its 16-aircraft fleet and Saudi Arabian Airline’s aircraft, and benefitting from the available spaces in the company-owned giant aircraft added to the fleet last year.

Growth factors

Nabil Khojah, CEO at Saudi Airlines Cargo, says: "2015 witnessed steady growth and a notable increase of cargo operations in four main terminals (Basel, Frankfurt, Finland and Hyderabad), with an increase of over 20% from 2014. This is expected to grow further during 2016, under the significant growth of medicine volumes shipped by Saudia Cargo from Hyderabad.

"The company is keen to provide cargo services at the highest medicine and medical supplies levels of quality shipping, and at global industry standards," he adds. "The objective is to confirm the company’s serious attempt to diversify its products and services throughout the year, and meet the requirements of customers everywhere."

Khojah continues, "Saudia Cargo has entered into agreements with Envirotainer and CSafe, specialist companies in medicine containers. The agreements will allow the company to attain containers in all points inside the network. Container temperature can be adjusted between 2°C and 25°C by a trained team, and can achieve flexibility in delivery, customs clearance and cargo handling."

This service will be available to and from Saudia Cargo’s main hubs (via Europe and the Indian subcontinent): King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
