The Melsungen printer Faubel & Co. Nachfolger GmbH, which mainly produces booklet labels and custom labels for the pharmaceutical industry, is taking over majority in SIL System Integration Laboratory GmbH, a specialist in RFID solutions (radio frequency identification), with immediate effect.
The companies have already been partners for a long time, which will be consolidated by this move. Tobias John, who has been managing SIL for five years, will be keeping his executive position. He views this cooperation as symbiotic and positive: "As we shift towards so-called Industry 4.0, the interconnection and digitization of processes is becoming more and more important. This is where RFID technology can play a key role."
SIL offers a full-service approach, from research projects, software development and system integration to life-cycle management for existing applications.
"As a label manufacturer, Faubel has acquired exceptional know-how and is globally positioned. Both companies will benefit equally from this participation."
Frank Jäger, a member of the executive board, is responsible for Faubel’s business development, marketing and R&D. He will work alongside Tobias John as a joint managing director of SIL GmbH and supervise the integration process in this business sector.
"Over the past few years, Faubel has changed from being a conventional printing business into an innovation leader in custom labeling. Collaborating with SIL will allow us to drive product innovation forward and expand our service portfolio," Jäger says.
At this year’s Interpack in Düsseldorf – the world’s largest packaging trade fair – Faubel will showcase new products combining the expertise of both Faubel and SIL at Booth C-19 in Hall 11 from 4-10 May 2017.
